* Remove outdated documentation files: Quick Start Guide, Apache AGE Analysis, and Scratchpad. * Add multi-tenant testing strategy and ADR index documentation - Introduced ADR 008 detailing the multi-tenant testing strategy for the ./starter environment, covering compatibility and multi-tenant modes, testing scenarios, and implementation details. - Created a comprehensive ADR index (README.md) summarizing all architecture decision records related to the multi-tenant implementation, including purpose, key sections, and reading paths for different roles. * feat(docs): Add comprehensive multi-tenancy guide and README for LightRAG Enterprise - Introduced `0008-multi-tenancy.md` detailing multi-tenancy architecture, key concepts, roles, permissions, configuration, and API endpoints. - Created `README.md` as the main documentation index, outlining features, quick start, system overview, and deployment options. - Documented the LightRAG architecture, storage backends, LLM integrations, and query modes. - Established a task log (`2025-01-21-lightrag-documentation-log.md`) summarizing documentation creation actions, decisions, and insights.

# Multi-Tenant Implementation Audit Report
**Date:** November 23, 2025
**Auditor:** GitHub Copilot
**Scope:** `lightrag_webui/` directory
## Executive Summary
The multi-tenant implementation in `lightrag_webui` has been audited and found to be correctly implemented. The architecture effectively separates tenant context, enforces tenant selection, and propagates tenant identity to the backend API.
## Detailed Findings
### 1. Tenant Selection
**Status:** ✅ Correctly Implemented
* **Mechanism:** Tenant selection is managed via the `TenantStore` (Zustand) and persisted in `localStorage`.
* **Enforcement:**
* `App.tsx` acts as a route guard, rendering `TenantSelectionPage` if no tenant is selected.
* `LoginPage.tsx` requires a tenant to be selected before authentication can proceed.
* **UI Components:**
* `TenantSelector.tsx`: Provides a dropdown for selection and a read-only view with a "Switch" button.
* `TenantSelectionPage.tsx`: Provides a full-page grid view for initial tenant selection.
* **Switching Flow:** Clicking "Switch Tenant" in the header clears the selection in the store, triggering `App.tsx` to re-render the `TenantSelectionPage`, effectively allowing the user to choose a new tenant.
### 2. Knowledge Base (KB) Switching
**Status:** ✅ Correctly Implemented
* **Mechanism:** KB selection is also managed via `TenantStore` and persisted in `localStorage`.
* **UI Integration:**
* The `TenantSelector` component includes a KB selector dropdown.
* In `SiteHeader.tsx`, the `TenantSelector` is embedded. While tenant selection is set to "read-only" mode (showing the current tenant name), the KB selector remains active and visible, allowing users to switch KBs within the current tenant context.
* **Context Propagation:** The selected KB ID is stored and available for API interceptors.
### 3. API Implementation
**Status:** ✅ Correctly Implemented
* **Interceptor:** `lightrag_webui/src/api/client.ts` configures an Axios interceptor that automatically injects:
* `X-Tenant-ID` header from `localStorage`.
* `X-KB-ID` header from `localStorage`.
* **Consistency:** All API calls in `lightrag_webui/src/api/lightrag.ts` use the configured `axiosInstance`, ensuring that every request carries the necessary tenant and KB context.
* **Tenant API:** `lightrag_webui/src/api/tenant.ts` provides necessary endpoints for fetching tenants and KBs with pagination support.
### 4. Login Implementation
**Status:** ✅ Correctly Implemented
* **Flow:** `LoginPage.tsx` integrates with the tenant system.
* **Validation:** It prevents login attempts if no tenant is selected.
* **Guest Mode:** It supports "Free Login" (Guest Mode) which also enforces tenant selection before proceeding.
* **State:** Authentication state is managed in `AuthStore` and works in tandem with `TenantStore`.
## Code Analysis References
* **State Management:** `lightrag_webui/src/stores/tenant.ts` - Robust state management with persistence.
* **API Client:** `lightrag_webui/src/api/client.ts` - Correct header injection.
* **Routing/Guards:** `lightrag_webui/src/App.tsx` - Correct conditional rendering based on tenant selection.
* **UI:** `lightrag_webui/src/features/SiteHeader.tsx` & `lightrag_webui/src/components/TenantSelector.tsx` - Correct UI composition for the header.
## Recommendations
* **Error Handling:** The current API fallback in `api/tenant.ts` returns a "Default Tenant" if the API fails. Ensure this behavior is desired for production; in a strict multi-tenant environment, it might be better to show an error to the user rather than falling back to a default.
* **Type Safety:** The `Tenant` and `KnowledgeBase` interfaces in `stores/tenant.ts` are well-defined. Ensure backend responses strictly match these types to avoid runtime issues.
## Conclusion
The multi-tenant architecture in the frontend is solid and ready for use.
